What makes it work? The secret is the carbide. Only diamonds are harder than the tungsten carbide tips making up the working mechanism. Positioned to form an overlapping V-shape, these tips have sharpened edges. Thus, knife blades are drawn across a smooth surface in the sharpening process, putting a keen edge on most any size knife blade. Tungsten carbide wears away very slowly with use, giving the Aladdin Knife Sharpener a long and efficient life.
