“BGO” is brass gilt open, meaning that the safety pins are copper colored and come in the box open (i.e., with the pointy part out of its safety cover) as in the upper part of the picture. “SC” means that the safety pins are made of steel and come closed, or fastened, in the box, as in the lower part of the picture.
