I’m proud to say that SouthStar has been on the web since way on back in the last millennium. In fact you can go to the “Way Back” machine at web.archive.org and put in southstarsupply.com and see that the first snapshot they recorded of our website was on February 10, 1998.
Wow. That sounds like forever ago. Before 9/11. Before Obamanomics. Gee, who’d a thunk we were in the good ol’ days back then while we were quaking in our boots over the impending Y2K? (You millennials can Google that. The whole experience was a good lesson in being skeptical of the Chicken Littles and fear mongers of the world who use fear to pass laws & raise taxes… Is it getting warm in here to anyone else?)
Back to the point before I tick off about half our customers, we still have the same ol’ web address but we have a brand new site. It was not by choice that we did this. The other one served us well for most of a decade, but that’s long in the tooth for software, so when it started malfunctioning, we had to act. Thank you for putting up with some of the glitches along the way. We’ve still got a lot of work to do to make it as good as we want it to be—the new software gives us a lot of flexibility we didn’t have before. But right now you can sign in (you have to ask for a new password) and bring your account up and place your orders. The raw data is all there like before, it’s just arranged differently. (Also, you will note that we couldn’t keep order history, but the way the new site keeps history is way better than the old one.)
Of course, you can still call us to place an order. But hey, how yester-millennium of you. Which is fine by us, as long as we keep hearing from you.
Thanks for your business!
